Honor 8 will not receive Android 8.0 Oreo

George Zao confirmed in an interview last month that Honor 8 and Honor 8 Pro will receive the Android Oreo 8.0 update very soon. Honor India has just confirmed for a user query in Twitter that due to hardware and software limitations, Honor 8 will not be getting Android 8.0 Oreo.

EMUI 8.0 is released but Honor 8 is still stuck in EMUI 5.0. What gives? neither have we got Oreo.

Honor went on to say the smartphone will continue to receive security updates when needed, probably for a few more years. Even many entry level smartphones are receiving the Android Oreo update, but Honor said it has limitations. This will dicourage many Honor brand lovers.
