Google introduced "Google Play Protect" app for the android devices. The Google Play Protect brings control to you to protect your devices. It continuously works to keep the device, data and apps safe. It actively scans your device and is constantly improving to make sure that you have the latest in mobile security. The device is automatically scanned around the clock and ensures the device is secured enough.
All Android apps undergo rigorous security testing before appearing in the Google Play Store. The Google Play Protect App scans all the apps that are available in the Google Play store, and notifies you from the malicious apps. It never scans the 3rd party apps. Hence it is always recommended to use Google Play Store.
To view the current scan status and make sure Play Protect is enabled go to Settings > Google > Security > Google Play Protect. Here, a list of recently installed apps, current harmful apps and the option to toggle the service on or off is shown.
